This film is a dance exploration of Dylan Thomas poem “Love in the Asylum”, performed by 15 dancers, gathered in an enclosed space. Waiting rooms are places far from regular time and space notions, where everyone can get lost in inner thoughts. A place that opens up to inner madness, a dedicated space to explore fake solitudes. A place of silence, stillness, of imposed physical distance.
Didier MULLERAS is a french visual artist, renowned choreographer, musician, film maker. He has created more that 30 stage productions and numerous dance films. His work has toured worldwide in more that 50 countries and major venues, including Sadlers Wells Londres, Art Summit Jakarta, Centre Culturel de Belem Lisbonne, Danza Unam Mexico, Skirball Center Los Angeles, Itau Cultural São Paulo, French Festival Bangkok, KaaiTheater Brussels, Dance On Camera Festival New York, Cynet Dresden, Seoul Film Festival.

“Chameleon” is a transformative blend of two spirits becoming one. Representing the continuous re-inventing of relationship, it evokes and awakens both feelings of submissiveness & sensuality. Originally created as an ensemble dance for stage work, today, Choreographer and Artistic Director of Jazz Spectrum Dance Company, Janell Burgess has re-invented “Chameleon” into a beautiful pas de deux for film. Ms. Burgess worked closely with composer Cisco Dimas to create new & original music specifically for this dance for film. “Chameleon” premiered in October of 2020 at PUSHfest Global Online presented by Raissa Simpson, Artistic Director of Push Dance Company, San Francisco, CA.
Tremaine Scholarship, Giordano Merit Scholarship, and American Legion Award for her advocacy and commitment to art education in the Southern California school districts. For over 20 years, Janell has travelled around the world, working with top companies including Disney, Universal Studios, Sands Macau, Heineken, & Ceasars Entertainment. She has toured & performed with KC & The Sunshine Band, The Jackson Family, Paul Oakenfold, Bijan Mortezavi, Gene Simmons, & Holly Madison. Her film & television credits include: The Disney Channel, The Travel Channel, “The View”, AXS TV, and West Africa’s longest running dance reality show, “Maltina Dance All” where Ms. Burgess served as head judge for 4 seasons. This film reveals the journey of a Korean female dancer who finds her forgotten identity.
With a feminist narrative, it embraces women who struggle with their inner or social circumstances hoping to encourage them to get through it.
She one day encounters and conflicts with her other forgotten ego. Even though she realizes her difficulties, restrictions in life as a woman, she adapts herself to it and tries to reject her other ego approaching her. After conflicting with her ego, receiving her ego, she is finally reborn as a transcendent ego.
This film is aimed to present Korean costume, Hanbok, in the narrative. The garments that a couple of dancers and a little girl wear, are the symbolic element that presents the woman dancer’s characteristics. Throughout the film, the costume changes its colour and shape, and the transformation means that the evolution of the main character’s identity.
On the day of receiving a bad medical diagnosis, a man used to many drunken nights at a local bar awakens in an unfamiliar place for an evening he will never forget.
