Short Film: LEA, 10min., Italy, Drama

Set in Italy, it follows a little girl, the eponymous Lea, whose crush on her guitar teacher has become the most significant part of her life and world—which is confined to the country house where she lives with her mother, her father uncaring and absent. It is viper season, and they love the river that Lea frequents. Lea’s mother copes with a strained marriage and the questions that it prompts from her daughter. And the one that threatens to finally tip over the precarious balance—Lea has a crush on her guitar teacher, who she discovers is involved with her mother. Lea’s relationship with her mother is not quite easy. Dealing with a crush which is obviously all-consuming for one so young, Lea is almost always moping. With her failing marriage, a secret affair, and a daughter she is raising alone, Lea’s mother too has a lot on her plate.

LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS, 87min., Documentary
Directed by Daniel Gartzke

A hidden epidemic affects nearly ten percent of the American population daily and for those it grasps, hope can seem like a distant dream.

In a message of hope, the film provides an opportunity of support to so many who may be struggling through difficult mental health conditions; and by means of storytelling will offer a platform for education, discussion, and healing of one of the most common diagnosis in our country. By combining the expertise of Neurologists, Psychologists, and other experts, with the experiences of Survivors and their families, Light in the Darkness will reintroduce PTS to the national conversation at a time when trauma and mental health are meant to take center stage.

Director Doug Werby has a true talent for authentic performance and beautiful imagery is at the heart of each project. He started directing comedy commercials and returns to it from time to time. Director Statement

I love what I do which is telling stories through moving images. I have extensive experience working in film, television, web, social and commercials. Currently I direct commercial spots through Kaboom Productions San Francisco and LA offices. All non-commercial work I do through my own production company Ballistic Pictures Inc. or as a loan out video director. This includes full-up production and post-production editorial services, interactive media creation and loan out directing for TV series. My hope is to build on all my experiences while challenging myself creatively to produce new narrative works such as “No Tricks”. My personal mission statement is to provide intensely creative, collaborative filmmaking, and to create work that informs and inspires
